Hours after sacked AAP leader Kapil Mishra hurled massive corruption charges on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday dismissed all such allegations as baseless. In a high-decibel press conference, Mishra had accused Kejriwal of accepting a bribe of two crore from Delhi Health minister Satyendra Jain.
Launching a scathing attack on the AAP, Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari called for the immediate resignation of Kejriwal. He added that nothing could be more shameful than a CM accepting bribes from one of his own cabinet ministers. Tiwari also stated that his party would meet Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on the matter.
Reacting to Mishra’s charge, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia said all charges made by Mishra were “unfounded and baseless.” He also added that the decision to remove Mishra from his cabinet was taken after widespread discontent among party lawmakers over an alleged water crisis in Delhi.
Backing Kejriwal, Kumar Vishwas, who had recently threatened to leave AAP, said such open and unfounded corruption charges cannot be accepted. He also questioned the manner in which Mishra had decided to go public, instead of discussing the matter within the party.
