58 Army Men Riding a Single Motorbike. Now That’s a World Record!

The ‘Tornadoes’ rode a 500cc Royal Enfield bike for 1,200 metres at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru.

In a spectacular display of daredevilry, 58 men of the Indian Army set a world record on Sunday, 19 November, by riding a single motorcycle at the IAF base in Bengaluru’s northern outskirts.

The 58-member motorcycle team of the Army Service Corps (ASC), christened ‘Tornadoes’, set another world record by riding a 500cc Royal Enfield motorbike for 1,200 metres at the Yelahanka Air Force Station... With 1,000 shows across the world in three decades, the ASC team holds 19 world and national records, including one by 56 men riding a motorbike in 2010.

Statement by the Defence Ministry

Dressed in a tricolour apparel, team driver Subedar Rampal Yadav steered the sturdy bike, with its leader Major Bunny Sharma on the vanguard, while other members stood behind and around on the flanks attached to the two-wheeler.

Formed 35 years ago under the aegis of then Colonel CN Rao and Captain JP Verma, the display team became world famous with its devilry and record-breaking feats.

“Debuting at the ninth Asian Games in New Delhi in 1982, the Tornadoes team has been participating in major international and national events to promote national integration and adventurism,” added the statement.
