Addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the rich are losing sleep over the demonetisation policy, while the poor are sleeping peacefully.

Modi’s address is strategic as the state goes to polls early next year. He will also be launching railway projects in the city.

Modi also used former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary to hit out at the Congress, saying that the BJP government will fulfil all the promises that the Congress party made to the people of Ghazipur in 1962.

Modi said that he will implement all of Nehru’s vision which the Congress failed to realise.

“I have come here on 14 November deliberately, to expose those who did not work towards fulfilling what Pandit Nehru had wanted to do,” he said.

Brushing away criticism of being anti-poor, he said he has done what Nehru wanted to do for the poor.

He further said that he is aware of the fact that the note ban is causing problems to many people, but promised that the government would fix things in the long run. He assured the applauding crowd that their inconvenience won’t go in vain.
