Mumbai’s first air-conditioned local train left Chennai on Friday to reach Mumbai on Tuesday. The train worth Rs 55 crore will first undergo a test by BHEL and its associates before being operational.
The train’s air-conditioning, functioning of doors, software updates and other technical details will be tested at least for a month. At present, the train is stationed in Kurla. The rail authorities are concerned about proper division of coaches for women commuters.
They are thinking about keeping two out of six coaches for women. The authorities claim that there would not be any first and general class compartments.
