In the wake of criticism over the recent unrest at Srinagar’s National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday urged the people of the state to treat outstation students according to the dictum ‘atithi devo bhava’, to enhance secularism, brotherhood, and maintain cordial relations.

Addressing students at the convocation ceremony of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the university has been built with the contribution of millions of pilgrims, many of whom came from far away places.
