MiG-21 Crashed in Barmer, Both Pilots Ejected Safely
171 pilots and 39 civilians have been killed in MiG accidents in last 40 years.

An Indian Air Force MiG-21 fighter aircraft crashed in Barmer area of Rajasthan on Saturday. The pilot and the co-pilot managed to eject themselves out safely.
The aircraft was airborne from Uttarlai airbase near Barmer. No damage to civil or service property has been reported so far, and a court of inquiry has been ordered to look into the circumstances leading to the crash.
MiG aircraft have been infamous for their poor safety record. According to a statement by then Defence Minister, AK Antony in the Rajya Sabha in 2012, 171 pilots and 39 civilians have been killed in MiG accidents in last 40 years.
These stats have earned the MiGs the tag of “flying coffin”.
