Residents of the Corbett National Park paraded the carcass of a man-eating tigress, after it was shot down by forest department officials near Ramnagar in Uttarakhand on Thursday.

In a rather unfortunate incident, a three-year-old tigress was shot dead following a 45-day hunt, that involved elephants, search dogs, drones and even helicopters. The entire operation burnt a hole of Rs 1 crore in the forest department’s pocket.

The painful decision to search for and kill the tigress was reluctantly taken after forest officials verified that she had killed two and injured around five. Her actions had unleashed an environment of fear in the area.
