Another year of major sporting wins and losses went by; Virat Kohli scored a barrage of centuries, the women’s hockey team made the country proud while underdogs India made it to the ICC Women’s World Cup. And while we’ve heard all the expert opinions through the year, it was time for the kids to pick their favourite moment from Indian sports in 2017. Watch the video to find out what they had to say.

Aryaman

Aryaman was pretty clear why he “loved” Virat Kohli in 2017.

  1. He hit double centuries and centuries.
  2. He married Anushka Sharma.

Krishiv Raj

Son of a staunch MS Dhoni lover, Krishiv Raj Gupta refused to get influenced by “mama’s choice” and picked Shikhar Dhawan as his favourite sportsperson of 2017. However, the 9-year-old said his favourite event in the past year was Rohit Sharma’s record-setting third double hundred against Sri Lanka on 13 December.

Raghav Saran Mathur

Since veteran cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was his favourite sportsperson of the year, Raghav preferred not to watch any matches in 2017.

Pratham

Unfortunately Pratham couldn’t watch his favourite hockey star PR Sreejesh play for the majority of the year after the Indian goalkeeper and captain picked up an injury during the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. However, he did follow the team through the year, and India’s quarter-final win against World No 3 Belgium in penalty shootout was his favourite moment of the year.

Ira Khanna

Ira didn’t have a favourite sportsperson this year, but a favourite sports team – the Indian women’s cricket. And her favourite moment? The final of the ICC Women’s World Cup.

Even though India lost the women’s World Cup final, they made us very proud.
Ira Khanna

“Every year the family watches men’s cricket but this year it was different, everyone watched women’s cricket and that was a very good thing for me,” she added.
