This 26 July, as India commemorates 18 years since the Kargil war, we decided to reach out to Kargil veterans and listen to them about the glorious victory over Pakistan.
Through their accounts, we relive the tension of the battlefield Kargil witnessed in 1999. They share with us how they are still willing to fight for country, how few disabilities haven’t made them weak.
India successfully took command of the high outposts on 26 July 1999, after they had been lost to Pakistani intruders. The war that was fought for more than 60 days, ended on 26 July and resulted in loss of life on both sides, India and Pakistan.
