Irom Sharmila to End 16-Year-Long Fast and Join Politics
‘The Iron Lady of Manipur’ has decided to contest in 2017 Manipur elections and also marry her fiance.

Manipur’s Iron Lady Irom Sharmila will break her 16-year-old fast against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) on 9 August, CNN News18 reports.
The 42-year-old will reportedly contest election from Manipur.
Sharmila was charged, later acquitted, with undertaking fast-unto-death at Jantar Mantar on 4 October 2006.
