Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat finally hit theatres on 25 January. Anyone who has watched the film is asking just one question - why did Karni Sena not want people to watch this film? The period drama in fact validates the honour and upholds the valour of the Rajput community and guess what? There are no scenes between Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, the main point of protest, something Bhansali has repeatedly mentioned.
Violence continued even after the Supreme Court lifted ban on the release of the film and now even though the film released in 4,000 screens across the country, protests by some Rajput outfits continue.
On the day of the release, Deepika Padukone said:
Cinema halls running Padmaavat are under tight security. We went to Gaiety Galaxy in Bandra, Mumbai to get first reactions to the most anticipated film of the year. Watch the video to find out what the audience had to say about the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone-Shahid Kapoor-starrer.
PS: Will you be watching Padmaavat this long weekend?
