Anupam Roy won the best background score for Piku at the 61st Filmfare Awards on Friday night. The Quint had interviewed the music composer, singer and lyricist when he was still basking in the success of the film’s music, post its release. 

Anyone familiar with the Bengali music scene over the last 5 years will be familiar with Anupam Roy.

As he made his giant leap to Bollywood with the Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone-starrer Piku earlier this year, Roy has successfully found a spot on music lovers’ playlists across the nation.

25 July saw another first for Anupam as he sang his songs from Piku live at a concert in Delhi.
