Eight SIMI members, who broke out of prison earlier on Monday, were killed in an encounter in Eintkhedi village, on the outskirts of Bhopal. The encounter was carried out by 25 police officers, according to sources.
The members of the banned organisation had escaped from the Bhopal Central Jail by killing a security guard and scaling the prison wall using bed-sheets.
According to sources, when there was a change of guard around 2-3 am, SIMI operators, who were imprisoned in the B BLOCK of the jail, broke out of the barrack and killed the head constable, Ramesh Shankar.
