The inaction of the Delhi government has caused innocent slum dwellers like 7-year-old Riya a lot of hardship.
Three years ago, the Delhi government had allotted flats in Dwarka to the residents, for which they had paid around Rs 80,000 - 90,000 per flat.
The Quint speaks to the residents of Delhi’s Gol Markets, living just few metres away from Connaught Place, who were promised these flats.
The residents are angry at the Delhi government for not giving them the possession of the flats they have already paid for and now stand vacant.
Riya, sadly, is just one of many. The Quint did a report exposing the 26,288 flats currently lying vacant around Delhi, as their rightful inhabitants – who have already paid substantial sums to live in them – wait years to move in.
