The DC3 Dakota, a sturdy workhorse that flew extensively in the World War II and later during the Indo-Pak and Indo-China conflicts, will soon find a pride of place in the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Rajya Sabha member Rajeev Chandrasekhar wanted to gift one to IAF’s vintage fleet. He had bought one from a collector in the UK, and the same is being face-lifted and painted with the IAF colours. Chandrashekhar purchased the aircraft scrap in Ireland and has restored it in UK, in memory of his Fauji father.
