The Jammu and Kashmir government imposed a curfew in several parts of South Kashmir and Srinagar in order to prevent instances of violence following the death of Zahid Ahmad Bhat. The 24-year-old trucker was attacked over rumours that abandoned carcasses of three cows were found in his truck.
Zahid, who succumbed to injuries on Sunday after he was severely burnt in a petrol bomb attack on his truck on October 9, was laid to rest at Botengo village this morning.
The curfew was imposed as a precautionary measure following violent protests yesterday in many parts of the Valley after Zahid, the truck conductor, succumbed to his injuries in a Delhi hospital.
