Land-grab convict Asha Kumari has been appointed as Punjab in-charge by Congress. Kumari, out on bail, was appointed by the Congress after Kamal Nath stepped down. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) cried foul over this decision. BJP leader, Shahnawaz Hussain said that Congress leaders are often involved in some or the other scam.

This is no topic to made an issue of by the BJP. What does the BJP have to do with Congress’ internal matters? We are well prepared to form the government. The property case has been suspended by the court

AAP MLA, Jarnail Singh said that the her appointment showed that Congress is short of clean leaders and this move has proved that they are not serious about getting rid of corruption in Punjab. Congress presence has been shrinking in several states and Kumari’s appointment comes a precarious time.
