The Sopranos actress Annabella Sciorra claimed on Friday she was raped by disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein, after he barged his way into her apartment. Writing a confessional piece in the New Yorker, Sciorra describes how Weinstein “shoved” her onto her bed and had non-consensual sex, back in 1992.
She alleged that Weinstein continued to sexually harass her for years. In the same article, actress Daryl Hannah also says she was harassed by Weinstein, adding that the movie mogul once tried to force his way into her hotel room.
Sciorra claims in the New Yorker that after a dinner party one night, Harvey offered to drop her off home. Since nothing had happened before this, she took him up on the offer. After she reached and was getting ready for bed, within minutes, she heard a knock on the door. When she opened it, “[Weinstein] pushed the door open, walked in like it was his apartment, like he owned the place, and started unbuttoning his shirt. So it was very clear where he thought this was going to go. And I was in a nightgown. I didn’t have much on.”
She also alleges that the harassment continued for years later in the form of unwanted messages, and barging into her rooms without invitations.
Daryl Hannah alleges in the same piece that on two occasions, Weinstein pounded on her hotel-room door to let him in. The first time she had to escape out a back entrance. The next day when it happened again, she barricaded herself in using furniture. She also says Weinstein once asked to touch her breasts and after she refused repeatedly to his advances, he retaliated against her professionally.
He has been ousted from his own company and expelled from the motion picture academy.
