The hottest launch this festive season is likely to be the Tata Nexon compact SUV. The Nexon will be launched towards the second half of September. It comes with a 1.2 litre turbo-charged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. It is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Ford EcoSport. The Nexon is expected to be priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9 lakh. Check out the full test drive review of the Tata Nexon.

Maruti S-Cross Facelift

The Maruti S-Cross crossover is due for a much-needed facelift. The S-Cross hasn’t got the kind of volumes Maruti expected, partly because it looked quite ‘sober’ compared to other SUVs and crossovers in the segment, such as the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.

The facelifted Maruti S-Cross will get a more aggressive looking grille, new headlamps and minor tweaks to the bumpers at the front and rear. However, the really peppy 1.6-litre diesel variant may be axed from the line up. Only the 1.3-litre diesel will remain in the model list. Prices are expected to drop because of this, ranging between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 11 lakh.

The Skoda Kodiaq is a seven-seater SUV that will compete with the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner in terms of price. It will come with a choice of a 2-litre petrol engine and a 2-litre diesel as well. The Kodiaq is loaded with features, some innovative ones too. Expect the Kodiaq to be priced at about Rs 30 lakh to Rs 35 lakh, as it will be priced above the Skoda Superb.

The Renault Kaptur is an SUV that will be price-positioned just above the Renault Duster. It is likely to share the same engines as the Duster – a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.6-litre petrol unit. However, it is slightly larger and will offer more features.

Prices for the Kaptur are likely to be in Jeep Compass territory, starting at about Rs 13 lakh going up to Rs 18 lakh. The top models of the Renault Duster may be rejigged to make way for the Kaptur.

Ford India is bringing in a facelifted EcoSport as competition in the compact SUV segment is likely to get quite intense. The facelifted Ford EcoSport sports a revised front-end, with new foglamps, headlamps and bumper design. The rear bumper also gets minor tweaks. The dashboard layout for the infotainment system too will change slightly. It will continue to be powered by the 1.5-litre diesel, 1.5-litre petrol and 1-litre Ecoboost petrol engines.
