Global social networking platform Twitter on Monday, 3 May, announced that all users with 600 or more followers will now be able to host its live audio conversation feature, Spaces. However, as of now, everyone can listen to Spaces on iOS or Android.
Spaces was launched by Twitter last year and it competes with popular invite-only audio chat application, Clubhouse.
Twitter has restricted the ability to host a space to accounts with 600 or more followers.
"Based on what we’ve learned so far, these accounts are likely to have a good experience hosting live conversations because of their existing audience," said Twitter on its blog.
"People already come to Twitter to talk about what’s happening. You’ve always followed people for their tweets, now Spaces lets you hear their voices and talk about what’s happening now and what’s most important to you – live," added Twitter.
It is working on 'Ticketed Spaces' which will be way for hosts to be rewarded for the experiences they create by getting monetary support, while providing listeners with exclusive access to the conversations they care about most.
Some other Spaces features Twitter is working on are co-hosting, scheduling, more block labels + warnings, and improved captions.
