What could possibly go wrong when getting a free Jio 4G SIM? Well, going by the recent incidents, it seems you could lose the connection if all the processes aren’t followed by the book.
Earlier this week, few readers of The Quint, sent over screenshots of an SMS sent by Reliance Jio, asking them to re-verify their ID documents/Aadhaar ID.
The message also notified them to head over to a nearest Reliance Digital/Digital Xpress Mini store in the next two days, or else the number will be deactivated.
So, what could possibly be the issue here? Weren’t the documents verified during the consumer registration process? If the signatures didn’t match, then how were they cleared in the first place and how did the numbers get activated?

These are questions that only Jio can answer, and we expect a reply from them in the coming hours. (Keep following this post for an update).
But these incidents, help us offer some clarity on what’s the best method to get the free Jio 4G SIM.
According to Jio, TRAI has mandated rules to only let local Aadhaar IDs to be used for getting a mobile SIM activated that is done via electronic-Know Your Customer (e-KYC). So, if you’re from Delhi, you can only get a Delhi-registered mobile number on Jio 4G if you have a Delhi Aadhaar card, or get it through someone who has one.
There are people roaming around the city, claiming to work for Jio and subscribing more and more users by the day.
We haven’t officially heard the company talking about them, but chances are that these people might have been outsourced, brought on board to intensify Jio’s customer acquiring process.

You also have the option to get the SIMs via proof of identity (POI) and proof of address (POA) documents, but we’d always recommend you to go for the former.
Comment below, if you’ve also got this SMS from Reliance Jio over the past couple of weeks.
