Xiaomi has a soft corner for India and that’s why consumers will get a chance to buy the Mi 5 earlier than expected. The company has confirmed that on 31 March, the Mi 5 will be launched in India. And in all probability, the phone will be priced at around Rs 25,000.
Xiaomi Mi 5 is the company’s flagship upgrade over the Mi 4, however in India, it will replace the Mi4i.
The launch date proves that Hugo Barra’s promise to bring the Mi 5 to India much earlier than before was true after all.
Xiaomi Mi 5 was introduced at the MWC 2016 and the phone has got a curved edge design makeover similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. The company claims to have absorbed minute design aesthetics to ensure that the phone is lighter (at 129 grams) than most other flagships in the market.

Xiaomi Mi 5 will be competing with LeEco’s Le Max Pro which has been priced at Rs 21,000 for the Indian market. Both the phones are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 processor which makes them a contender for the affordable flagship segment.
