The wait is over for JioPhone users in the country. WhatsApp, the popular messaging app owned by Facebook can now be downloaded to the 4G feature phone. The app, designed specifically for the ultra-affordable device, was supposed to launch few weeks back but after a long wait, users can download the app available on the JioStore.
On WhatsApp, you can do all the basic things like send and share videos, reply to a chat, create groups and even send a voice note.
We even got a chance to play around with the beta version of the app few months back and here’s how it works, just like the smartphone version.
With the addition of WhatsApp, JioPhone now hosts quite an impressive set of apps for its stature.
These apps can also be downloaded by users of the JioPhone 2, which is slightly expensive compared to its predecessor, and gets a QWERTY keypad (reminding you of the BlackBerry days).
WhatsApp has been in the news for various reasons, especially in India, where it has become a medium to send hatred/fake information and creating communal disharmony. With JioPhone getting the app, hopefully, this doesn’t lead to further chaos, especially among the lower tier regions of India.
We’ll give you a detailed impression of WhatsApp on JioPhone very soon.
