Since the last few months, popular messaging app WhatsApp has been working to make the app more secure and convenient to use.
Now WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new ‘mark as read’ feature to make users mark messages straightaway from the notification drawer to save time instead of opening the app.
According to a WABetaInfo thread, the ‘mark as read’ shortcut feature in the notification centre is not available yet because the minor update is still in progress and will be available to beta testers soon after the development work is done, followed by a public roll out.
Recently, it added features like ‘Forwarded’ labels to chats to counter fake news and messages circulating on social media platforms.
It is not sure when the feature will be launched officially. However, once the feature is enabled, users will see a new ‘mark as read’ button, right next to the ‘reply’ button on the notifications drawer.
