Facebook-owned messaging application WhatsApp is working on some major updates which will be hitting app stores very soon. One of the biggest upcoming update is the ‘Group Call’ button which will be introduced to make group calling much easier.

With the new feature, users will be able to make group calls directly to multiple members of the group instead waiting for one of the user to connect to you.

The new update/improvements are being rolled out only for iOS users as of now and will be coming to Android users later.

According to a post on Wabetainfo, a website that keeps a constant track on everything about WhatsApp, the application is due to receive a beta version on iOS which will update the current group calling feature to add a Group Call button. This will allow the users to immediately call up to three members of the group.

The earlier version of the app required you to call a member of the group and only after they received the call would you be able to connect with other members. All of this goes out of the window and with the new update, you’ll be able to make the call directly, both voice and video.

“In the precedent versions, you could start a group call just after a normal call, that was very annoying (start a normal call, after the response of the recipient you needed to add the other contacts in the call) Thanks to these new improvements, you can directly start a real group call easily, choosing between the voice or video mode! The 2.18.110 update will be available in the next weeks on the App Store, bringing some improvements.”

Earlier, we had tried using the Group Video Calling feature of WhatsApp but it was buggy and had a lot of issues connecting with multiple users.

Hopefully, with the introduction of the new new feature, these issues will be taken care of.
