It has taken less than a month for Samsung to introduce its Galaxy S7 series in India, after its global debut at MWC 2016. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have been priced at Rs 48,900 and Rs 56,900 respectively, available from 18 March. The company is also giving away the Gear VR headset if you pre-book either of the Galaxy S7 phones right now.
The Galaxy S7 series phones are Samsung’s first-ever flagship products to offer water and dust resistance with an IP68 certification. This feature allows the phones to be immersed up to 1.5 metres underwater for about 30 minutes, without damage.
The other big change in the newest Galaxy S7 phones is in the camera. The camera protrudes only half a millimetre from the back. The display quality remains untouched, with a Quad-HD (2560x1440 pixels) quality display already in use.
The company has added a bigger battery unit to both the phones. 3000mAh on the Galaxy S7 and 3600mAh on the S7 Edge. This is a good move on Samsung’s part as it allows for a phone with an octa-core processor and 4GB RAM to last longer.
The latest Galaxy S variants are pitted against the LG G5, the Apple iPhone 6S (and iPhone 7 to be launched later this year) across the globe.
