Reuters has launched Reuters TV for publishers and it allows any publisher to independently download a widget free of charge, which can be then embedded on their website.

The publisher can put their ads in front of the widget and can retain 100 percent of the revenue. The sign up process is designed to be quick and publishers can customise their fonts and insert ad tags, and get the code for the embeddable widget.

The technology behind Reuters TV is new. Every time Reuters decides to do a news story as a video, it produces three lengths of that story – small, medium, and large. The app’s algorithms chooses the right video length to deliver to each user, based on the amount of time the user wants to spend on watching, and that user’s past preferences.

The algorithm is devised in such way that it accounts for users’ locations and interests and the judgement of editors. This algorithm also analyses each video’s performance.

The above news wrap includes today’s top stories, beginning with the Jakarta bombing incident, to the revamping of London’s secret WWII tunnels. The news is tailor-made as per the viewer’s video preferences.

Only time will tell if Reuters TV will be appreciated by users and viewers.
