Charging a phone is no longer a big headache these days, thanks to introduction of fast charging technology by multiple brands. We’ve seen companies like OnePlus, Huawei and Oppo among others working diligently to cut down on the time users take to fully charge their devices.
And now Vivo is the latest brand to enter the fast charging which is called the Super FlashCharge, with probably the first ever charging unit which can juice up your phone from zero to 50 percent in just five minutes.
That’s not all, Vivo’s latest showcase also says that phones in the future will get fully charged in mere 13 minutes. These numbers are significantly higher than OnePlus Warp charging, or other companies. The latest in charging tech has been demoed at the MWC 2019 Shanghai on Wednesday this week.
As highlighted by the company, it is claiming to be the first in the industry to deliver 120W ultra-high power charging for smartphone. This has been made possible using a customisable Type C cable, and a 20V with 6A charger in tow.
Having said that, Vivo hasn’t mentioned which product and by when can we expect this charging tech to be made available for the end user.
Clearly we are seeing a trend nowadays, where one of companies are comfortable using wireless charging as their go-to feature, while another group feels content in using fast-charging.
It’s good to see Vivo trying out things before other major companies, something they also did with in-display fingerprint sensor for phones. But they should also offer basic features as a standard in 2019. For instance, you still get a Vivo phone costing Rs 25,000 with micro USB 2.0 port, while phones under 15K now come with Type C port.
