1. Reliance JioPhone With 4G VoLTE Announced: Key Things to Know

As expected, the 4G VoLTE feature phone from Reliance Jio was finally announced at the Reliance AGM in Mumbai on Friday. Much to everyone’s surprise, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Industries confirmed that buying this phone will effectively be free of cost.

2. Fighting Cybercrime: How Blockchain Can Make Banking More Secure

In May 2017, a cryptoworm called WannaCry held about 2,00,000 computer systems in 104 countries to ransom. This was followed by another attack in June by NotPetya.

These are the latest in a string of deadly cybercrimes in the past few years, coming on top of the 2013 Yahoo account hacking, the 2014 cyber-attack on 47,000 Sony employees, and the theft of several thousand Tesco Bank accounts last year. Safe to say these are not the last ones.

2016’s Mi Max was a bit of a leap of faith for Xiaomi, a fledgling attempt at a large-screen-phone-for-a-budget in a segment that had few proof points. Three million Mi Max units later, the folks at Xiaomi are back with the successor, the Mi Max 2.

Questionably portable smartphone or petite tablet? We’re still grappling with that one, but the Max 2 is, without a doubt, one helluva refined phablet.

4. What’s mAadhaar for Android, and How Does It Work?

Aadhaar is slowly becoming a vital part of our lives. You’re expected to link Aadhaar with your mobile number, and by the end of 2017, you must link it with bank account as well.

To make things easier for you, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the team behind Aadhaar, has designed an app – mAadhaar – that ensures you don’t have to carry the hardbound Aadhaar card everywhere you go.

The app is available on Google Play Store (supports Android 4.4 KitKat or more), and make sure you download the app which is made by UIDAI, as there are multiple fake apps strolling around there.
