As Reliance Jio is preparing for the rollout of its GigaFiber, DTH provider Tata Sky has also rolled out its Broadband service in the country. The DTH provider has rolled out the service for 12 cities for now, with the plans starting at a monthly rental of Rs 999.
Tata Sky has introduced one, three, five, nine and twelve-month packages for the broadband service.
Starting from 5Mbps, the speeds will go up to 100Mbps and the plans will go up to Rs 2,500 monthly.
Here are the unlimited monthly packages:
Apart from these unlimited plans, Tata Sky is also offering plans with a limit on the usage, with 100 GB of data for Rs 999 and 250 GB of data for Rs 1,250 in the Delhi-NCR only. For other regions, the charges are Rs 999 for 60 GB monthly data and Rs 1,250 for 125 GB of monthly data.
Getting any of these plans, users will get a free WiFi router and will have to pay Rs 1,200 as installation charges.
With these broadband plans, Tata Sky marks its entry in the broadband space. However, the pricing is a bit high given the fact that these days, one can get unlimited data at 50Mbps speeds for under Rs 1,000. The DTH provider, on the other hand is charging Rs 1,800 for the same (plus Rs 1,200 for installation).
Also, with the launch of Reliance Jio GigaFiber happening soon, more people will wait for the Jio service to roll out before they shell out a substantial amount on Tata Sky broadband.
