Sony and Microsoft are busy refining their gaming consoles with features that will make their products future ready. Sony has announced the availability of its PlayStation VR headset which will be sold at $399.
The Japanese brand has officially confirmed that the VR headset will be available from October onwards. The announcement was made at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2016.
Sony admits the delay in introducing the product, its first in the virtual reality segment but claims that the wait will be worth it for PlayStation 4 gamers.
The pricing announced is only for the VR headset. The VR controllers and the PlayStation camera come at an extra cost. The consumer-ready version of the Sony PlayStation VR headset gets a 5.7-inch OLED display with full-HD resolution, supports 360-degree viewing and offers 3D audio compatibility as well.
Sony’s VR headset will be lining up against the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive this year. However, the PlayStation VR is the only headset that works exclusively with a gaming console.
