Sony has announced that it will stop making the Xperia Z phones and instead focus on their X series of smartphones. Sony was in dire need of a change up as the Japanese brand had fallen off the wagon in the mobile space.

The phones, Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA will make their way to various markets in the coming months. So what’s different about the Xperia X that Sony claims will give them the edge over their rivals? The Xperia X and X Performance pack a 23-megapixel camera at the back that is said to feature predictive hybrid focus.

This feature, as per Sony, will allow the phone to predict the next movement of the subject and capture it without any blur. Such bold claims have been made before by phone makers, however, we’ll be keen to see if Sony can walk the talk with this unique camera feature.

The Xperia X series pretty much borrows the style of the Xperia Z series – a glass back body and thin bezels on the front. All three phones have a 5-inch display. The Xperia X and X Performance has 1080p resolution whereas the Xperia XA has 720p resolution. on

We’re hopeful that the X series brings better fortune to Sony.
