Snapchat has surely taken away Google’s thunder this month with the Spectacles, which is nothing but sunglasses with built-in camera to shoot quick videos. The reference to Google comes here with respect to the Google Glass that they have been working on, for ages.
And unlike the Glass (its price never went below the $1200 mark), the Spectacles will be selling in the market for a cool $130 this fall.
The popular app which let you shoot quick video, is now evolving its capability to a hardware. Spectacles gets a camera with 115-degree lens and positioned right in line with your eye.
Spectacles is able to record each video for up to 30-second which can be saved up on the device, when you aren’t close to the phone.
For Android users, the videos from Spectacles need to be shifted to the phone via WiFi, while iOS users get access to the videos directly on their iPhones. You can charge the Spectacles and use it for a day as per the claims made by Snap Inc.
While we know the price, and its plethora of features in tow, it will be interesting to see the quality of the video that comes out shooting from the Spectacles. Also, we will have to wait and see whether it will be available for consumers in a market like India.
