Samsung Galaxy S8+ Now Costs Rs 39,990 in India After Price Cut

Samsung India is on a price revision spree over the past few weeks. Back in August, it revised the prices of the Galaxy Note 8 ahead of the Galaxy Note 9 launch in August. And now, the Korean smartphone giant has slashed the rates of the Galaxy S8+ in certain regions in India, taking the price of the phone to Rs 39,990, according to reports.

The Rs 39,990 price is reportedly valid in for the 64GB variant with offline retailers, as reported by Mahesh Telecom on Instagram.

However, Samsung has not confirmed any price cut on the phone. On the Samsung online store, the phone is still priced at Rs 51,990. The S8 models witnessed a price cut in April as well. Usually, Samsung phones get unofficial price cuts that are never validated by the South Korean brand.

The Galaxy S8 was the first Galaxy S phone to get an 18:9 edge screen and new cameras that improved low-light photography considerably.

However, with technology constantly improving, it’s quite unlikely that this price cut would make much of a difference to its sales, because there are phones with similar specifications to the S8+ available at lower prices.

The price cut on the Samsung S8 comes at a time when the S9 is available in the market. Samsung has continued the design theme of the S8 on the S9, with the same Gorilla Glass 5 protection and a similar aluminium frame. It therefore doesn’t make much sense buying an S8, when the newer phone is available.

Performance-wise, you get the Exynos variant of the Galaxy S8 in India, with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage.

However, even with the Rs 39,990 price tag, the Samsung S8+ doesn’t seem like a very sweet deal. For similar money you are spoilt for choice with the OnePlus 6, LG G7+ ThinQ and even the Asus ZenFone 5Z.
