Not content with disrupting the 4G internet space in India, Reliance Jio is now gearing up to launch India’s first-ever Rs 1,000 4G VoLTE phone.
According to reports, the phone will be announced in the first week of January 2017 and will come bundled with the company’s Jio Welcome Offer.
This way, Jio hopes to attract millions of entry-level users to its network, aiding their own target of reaching 100 million consumers, in the fastest possible time.
We’re not sure if a feature phone has the capability to support 4G VoLTE technology. If yes, then Jio might be onto something, which can only enhance the feature-phone segment in India and help it evolve in the coming years.

Reliance Jio is yet to officially come out and share its update on the mentioned devices, but going by most reports, we are certain of a confirmation in the coming weeks.

As of now, we’re not sure about the features and hardware structure of these phones in the making. However, the report goes on to say that while you would be able to access the internet and make calls, the phone will not come with a touchscreen display.
In all probability, Jio will be bundling data/calls with these phones, making them affordable for everyone. It remains to be seen if Jio can actually offer a phone with usable hardware, as well as software.
