Two years back Reliance Jio started its mobile internet journey in the country, which resulted in a major drop in 4G data prices. Even other telcos like Airtel, Vodafone and Idea had to succumb to the pricing pressure, especially when users cited Jio and its offerings.
And now, the Mukesh Ambani-owned telecom operator is thanking its 215 million customers (as per TRAI data for June 2018) with an offer. It’s offering 8GB additional 4G data to its users, which will be applicable this month onwards in the form of two monthly vouchers.
The details of the offer is available via the MyJio app, which can be accessed by any Jio user from his/her mobile. The company has said that the voucher will be credited for this month by 20 September, while the second one will be available sometime in October.
As you can see below, the 8GB data offering comes with a set of riders. Firstly, no Jio user will be able to consume 8GB at one go. He’ll be able to use 2GB per day, limited to four days in September and October.
The data credit automatically shows up in your account, and by 20 September, all 215 million users are expected to get it.
In addition to this, the telco has partnered with Cadbury to offer 1GB additional data inside the wrappers of Dairy Milk chocolates. As mentioned below, anybody buying this product can click a photo of the empty wrapper to get the data.
This offer is also applicable for Jio users, available via the MyJio app.
The company still continues to offer data plans with up to 3 months of validity and you can avail plans offering as much as 3GB data per day. These disruptive plans have forced others to sweeten their deals, and in many ways changed the dynamics of the Indian telecom sector, favouring what the consumer wants.
