Reliance Jio first became a household with mobile internet, it is expected to do the same with broadband internet very soon. But it’s fair to say that sky’s the limit for the country’s third-largest telecom operator. After pushing internet into everyone’s life, Jio is now eyeing your four-wheeler, with its version of a Connect app.

Which brings us to the next possible Jio product launching in the coming weeks. We came across this app called Jio Motive on the Google Play Store listed as unreleased.

Having said that, anyone can install the app right away, use it probably as early beta testers and help the company with the feedback for the app. The Jio Motive app, as per the feature list seems like a one-stop solution for car owners.

The app listing confirms it is developed by the Reliance Jio team in Navi Mumbai. We’ve already seen connect apps from car makers like Maruti Suzuki, Nissan and Honda Motors among others this year.

So, it’ll be interesting to see what Jio has to offer with its Jio Motive app. The name doesn’t resonate with connected car as an ecosystem, but we’ll reserve our verdict till we get to use the app.

You can define the areas up to which your car can move if you have a driver using it via geofencing. Car owners can also monitor its health, speed picked up on the journey and keep an eye for the fuel gauge, temperature of the car and use the app for navigation too.

In addition to this, the Jio Motive app also informs users of any unpaid service bills or if the car needs to head over for a quick overhauling. Trip analysis is also part of the app, letting users keep a check on how far and long they have traveled.

We still don’t know if the Jio Motive app will work for non-Jio users and if it does, what are the benefits that users on its network will be given. For the time being, all we know is that an app is about to launch, when and how it fares will become clearer when it is available to the public.

It’s also unclear what kind of hardware solution it will use in the car to relay the data to the app – an OBD port solution or a standalone tracking device.
