Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Lenovo K8 Note or Honor 6x: Best Under 15k?

We pit three super phones the Redmi Note 4, Lenovo K8 Note and the Honor 6x against each other. Which is better?

And we are back with yet another comparative series!

The recently launched Lenovo K8 Note is the new challenger in the under 15k segment and because of the specs it carries, many people are touting it to be the king of the hill. So, what do Xiaomi and Honor have to say about that?

Let’s look at the three phones vying for the crown of the best phone under Rs 15,000.

Design & Display

All three phones sport the same 5.5-inch full HD display. And oh yes! They all have the same ‘big daddy’ (*cough*China*cough*). While the Redmi Note 4 and the Lenovo K8 Note sport full metal designs, the Honor 6x comes with a plastic back finish. Some points lost for Honor.

The biggest advantage that the K8 Note holds here is that it comes with a ‘splash resistant’ design. All phones are ergonomically good to hold and don’t look or feel flimsy.

Performance & Storage

All three phones run on impressive hardware. The Redmi Note 4 really stormed into the smartphone market with its impressive portfolio, and has been able to sustain its popularity till now.

The Note 4 comes with a Snapdragon 625 processor, coupled with RAM options of 3GB and 4GB. It also offers expandable storage so it’s definitely a champion performer.

The Honor 6x was the next phone to hit the market which also impressed us earlier. The HiSilicon Kirin 655 processor performed well, even though the Android version via eUI running on the phone didn’t leave a good taste on us.

The new kid in town, the K8 Note is running the new MediaTek Helio X23 coupled with 4GB of RAM. What makes it a beast is its deca-core processor which makes it a super fast device. Mediatek-powered phones have been found wanting in the battery department, so we’ll have to see if it gets any better with the K8 Note.

All three phones offer expandable storage, although, the K8 Note has an upper hand as it offers a dual-SIM slot and a microSD card slot separately, which you can use simultaneously (something missing on the Honor & Xiaomi phones).

Camera & Battery

The Honor 6x and the K8 Note sport exceptional cameras. The Honor 6x comes with a dual 12+2 megapixel camera and has been tried and tested in the market for a long period. This is why it earns more points than the K8 Note’s dual 13+5-megapixel rear shooters, which we’ll be testing very soon.

Yes, the K8 Note has more megapixels (both front & back) but we won’t take a call on its quality without really scrutinising it (although, the sample pictures look impressive).

The Redmi Note 4 gets outplayed here only because it’s missing one lens in its setup. Else, the camera quality of the phone is good enough and it takes decent pictures.

The Redmi Note 4 is a battery behemoth, and so is the new Lenovo K8 Note. Both come with near 4000mAh batteries which I feel is more than enough to last you the entire day.

The K8 Note also supports Quick Charge technology which sweetens the deal here. The Honor 6x with a 3340mAh battery lags in this department.

Which One to Buy?

The new Lenovo K8 Note is a great phone at a starting price of Rs 12,999. You are getting a water-resistant design, a dual-camera setup, a deca-core processor and a fast charging battery.

More like the complete phone. It borrows a lot of elements from the Moto series like the purity of Android and that makes the K8 Note a compelling bargain in this price segment. If you’re up for trying something new and powerful, the K8 Note is the way to go.

The Redmi Note 4 has been in the market for long and there is nothing new the phone has to offer which makes it ‘kinda boring’. If you are one of those who likes to play safe, then go for the Note 4.

The Honor 6x brings to the table a good dual-camera but lags behind in offering that extra element that consumers ask for. In this price segment it’s tough for this one to take on the bigger players despite being easy on the pocket.
