A few days ago, the Rajkot Police Commissioner Manoj Agrawal had issued a statement banning PUBG Mobile in the district. Following the incident there were other Indian districts like Bhavnagar and some parts of Gir Somnath, which also called for the ban of the game citing it to be “addictive” and harmful for children.

To make things worse, it was reported that 10 PUBG players had been arrested in Rajkot for playing the game.

On this, PUBG Officials have released a statement on the ban that has been imposed on the game and also how it stands with the gamers involved.

PUBG MOBILE is a game. It is meant merely for entertainment and should be enjoyed in a healthy and responsible manner. In consonance with our endeavor to continue promoting responsible gaming experience, we are working on the introduction of a healthy gameplay system in India to promote balanced, responsible gaming, including limiting play time for under-aged players. We were thus surprised to learn that local authorities in a few cities have decided to impose a ban on playing our game. We are working to understand the legal basis of such bans, and hope we can have a constructive dialogue with relevant authorities to explain our objectives and that they withdraw the prohibition. To PUBG MOBILE players, we want to assure you that we are on your side and we will try our best to find a reasonable solution.

As of now, the ban still stands in all these districts till 30 March 2019. PUBG has said that it is looking to understand the legal basis on such bans and is looking forward to having a “constructive dialogue with relevant authorities” to explain the company’s objectives.

It has also said that it will limit play-time for under-aged players in the days to come and will introduce a healthy gameplay system in India to promote “balanced and responsible gaming”.

The online multiplayer game has received a lot of criticism citing addiction among youngsters and is also said to have hindered the education of children.
