OnePlus is all set to enter the competitive television segment, and India will be the first market where its smart TV will be launched in September. This was confirmed officially by Pete Lau, Founder and CEO, OnePlus through his post on the company’s forum page, as well as this tweet post.
We all know that OnePlus is working on its version of a smart television, which was first expected to launch by 2020. However, this official confirmation puts all those speculations to rest.
OnePlus will be the latest mobile brand to foray into this space, where we’ve already got names like Xiaomi, Micromax and established giants like Samsung and LG among others.
The series, called the OnePlus TV is expected to carry forward the company’s focus on packing high-end features at affordable price point.
The company has teased a slim design version of its first product in the television segment. We don’t know how it’ll look but reports suggest the company will adopt a bezel-less display with all the smart TV features with interconnectivity between devices likely to be the focus, as mentioned by the company’s founder over here:
For the Indian market, it’s crucial that OnePlus gets content partnerships to make sure platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and local players like Hotstar and Jio Cinema are available from day one.
