Just like most smartphone brands these days, OnePlus has also entered the television market with its first-ever Q1 Series and 4K products. The OnePlus Q1 and Q1 Pro with built-in sub-woofer have been priced at Rs 69,900 and Rs 99,900 respectively.
It will more or less be competing with names like Xiaomi, Samsung and Sony among others.
The company has been touting its television over the past few months, talking about its unique experience of browsing through content, as well as pairing it with its smartphone.
OnePlus’s smart TV supports local streaming platforms like Zee 5, Eros Now and of course, Amazon Prime Video too. The TV comes with a voice-enabled remote, that gets a default Amazon Prime button, which opens the platform on the TV.
As you can see here, the OnePlus TV remote gets a dedicated button with Google Assistant logo on it. There’s another button with the OnePlus logo on it, which is likely to be for dedicated apps. In terms of design, OnePlus seems to have been inspired a bit by the remote you get with Apple TV.
The company has equipped the 4K TV with a QLED panel, which promises better colour reproduction and darker blacks to offer a pleasing experience. Add to that, OnePlus has packed the TV with Dolby technology for enhanced audio output, which is in line with what Samsung and LG offer.
OnePlus has gone for Android TV as the underlying software, but its imprint is clearly visible with the interface, similar to that of the Oxygen OS that is available on the OnePlus phones in India.
It’s fair to say that compared to phones, TVs are hardly replaced before 5 to 10 years on an average, and OnePlus will have to plan its product schedule in tune with the trends in the market, that don’t change very often.
