To take a further step towards making India cleaner, the Ministry of Urban Development launched ‘Google Toilet Locator’ to help people find locations of public toilets.
"With over four thousand listings covering Delhi NCR including Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad, Bhopal and Indore in Madhya Pradesh - Indians and foreigners will now be able to easily find the nearest public toilet on Google Maps — both on the mobile app as well as on desktop," Google said in a statement.
The function which is available in Hindi and English and will show locations of toilets 500 meters within a person’s whereabouts.
Product manager of Google Maps, Sanket Gupta said:
At the launch of this service, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that 504 cities and town have achieved the status of being free of open defecation.
