Who needs a feature phone in 2017, when phone-makers have found a way to make smartphones with bezel-less displays? Well, a lot, apparently. Which is why HMD Global is bringing back the Nokia 3310 feature phone to the world, including India where it’s going to cost you Rs 3,310.

No, it doesn’t offer touch support, and you still can’t click selfies with it (it’s a feature phone, duh!). So, what could you possibly do with a feature phone that’s probably going to cost you as much as an entry-level Android phone? We take a look.

Design

It’s a feature phone, so the basic design elements are covered. You get a display sized at less than 3-inch, keypad and joystick to navigate through the features available on the phone. The phone misses out on everyone’s favourite, the torch, instead you’ll have to contend with the LED flash on offer with the camera sensor at the back.

The new Nokia 3310 can be charged via microUSB (yes, no chota pin charger, anymore) and you get 3.5-mm audio jack as well. The phone’s back panel is removable, which lets you put the SIMs (after all, the 3310 in 2017 offers dual-SIM support).

Features And What Else?

So, what’s new with the Nokia 3310, and how different is it from the feature phone that we remember from our childhood days?

This phone gets a coloured display, rear 2-megapixel camera, microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 32GB (how cool is that!), Bluetooth connectivity (not sure how useful can this be) and yes, internet also works on this phone although you’ll have to contend with 2.5G (sorry, no Jio 4G on this device). And how could we miss the Snake game.

What We Think

Pricing the Nokia 3310 at Rs 3,310 means, you’re not splurging a hell lot to buy this feature phone. With the 3310, HMD Global will be hoping to start on the right note, and make sure the phone is available in abundance from 18 May.
