Virtual Reality (VR) is the next big thing, and Oculus Rift VR Headsets have been one of the most awaited gadgets ever.
The company has announced that it will start selling the VR headset starting 2016. This is expected to change the face of the gaming industry and it will also be an interesting platform for the use of graphics in media.
A lot of potential buyers were contemplating the device’s capability to display pornographic content. But the company has already made up its mind about sexual content on the device.
That is not happening!
Just like Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store, the Facebook-owned company will have an independent store for apps on Oculus Rift. The company will censor applications according to the undisclosed terms and conditions of the application store, stopping pornographic apps from landing on their app store.
As the terms are undisclosed, graphically violent first person shooter games might not also make the cut.
Developers can still post their applications via third party stores but Oculus’ store will be the main moderator for the content on the device.
Now what kind of content will make it to this virtual reality headset will be interesting to look at, and we’ll have to wait and watch to know what actually are the app stores terms and conditions and what kind of censorship will be exercised on the device.
