Microsoft will finally let its Xbox One gamers battle it out against those who’ve got a Sony PlayStation 4. But that’s not all, Xbox One folks can even play against PC players, thereby giving Xbox One the much-needed cross-platform player support.
This feature has been long mooted by the makers of Xbox, and it’s great to see that Microsoft has stuck to its task.
This development comes after Microsoft announced backward compatibility support for the Xbox One. Sony has been relatively successful with its PS4 and Microsoft is doing its best to attract more and more gamers to its club.
Cross-platform support makes sure that in the foreseaable future gamers wouldn’t have to limit their console buying to what their friends own.
This expands a gamers’ horizon to a whole new level. However, one has to understand that what Microsoft has instigated is just a small step towards much bigger things.
It doesn’t really matter if Microsoft is the only console maker willing to give access to other platforms. Ideally, Sony should team up with Microsoft and make sure that gamers unite to form a gaming fraternity like never before.
Easier said than done, and considering Sony PS4 sell like hot-cakes, will they feel the need to open up after all?
Microsoft confirms that the Rocket League will be the first gaming title to offer cross-platform support.
Here’s to a future that is not reliant on what gaming console you own.
