Lenovo Group has emerged as the fourth largest smartphone brand by volume in India, according to IDC’s Asia Pacific Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, Q3, 2015 (November 2015 release) with a market share of 9.5 percent.
According to IDC’s report, 28.2 million smartphones were shipped to India in the third quarter of 2015 – up 21.4 percent from 23.2 million units for the same period last year. In the third quarter, the 4G enabled devices have witnessed almost a threefold increase in unit shipments over the previous quarter in 2015.
The company’s market share has jumped 3.1 per cent in this quarter from 6.4 per cent in Q2 2015. Lenovo Group has further risen to become the number 3 smartphone brand by value in India, capturing 11 per cent of the market share according to the IDC report (Q3 2015).
The company’s overall sales have increased by 72 percent year-on-year as compared to that of the same quarter last year. Sales of 4G units have increased by more than 132 percent this quarter as compared to Q2 2015.
The K3 Note is currently being manufactured in India in Lenovo Group’s manufacturing facility in Sriperambudur, Chennai. Lenovo recently also crossed the milestone of selling one million units of K3 Note in India.
