The recently announced Reliance JioPhone 2 will be launched via a flash sale model on 12 September at 12 pm according to the company’s website.
The flash sale model is something new that the Mukesh Ambani-owned company is looking at as the last iteration of the device, JioPhone, was sold via offline retail chains after online registrations.
The JioPhone 2 was announced at Reliance’s annual general meeting this year and has been priced at Rs 2,999.
The JioPhone 2 is a major upgrade from the earlier launched JioPhone in terms of specifications.
The new phones comes with a BlackBerry like QWERTY keypad instead of a traditional 9-key setup. It will run on the same version of KaiOS as supported in the JioPhone.
The JioPhone 2 comes with a 2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA camera on the front. It will offer the same features and applications as before including apps like Hotstar, BookMyShow, Google Maps and even Google Assistant. This suite of apps will including additional apps like Facebook and YouTube.
The company is said to release WhatsApp for JioPhone 2 in the coming months.
The phone comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. It is powered by a 2,000mAh battery which is non-removable.
