Reliance unveiled the second version of the JioPhone, the JioPhone 2 at the company's annual general meeting this year. The JioPhone 2 will be available to the customers via a flash sale model starting on 16 August at 12PM.
Contrary to the earlier model of sale where the JioPhone 2 was being made available to people who were registering on Jio’s website, the company has now decided to go the Xiaomi way and adopt the flash sale system of offering devices.
The last time around, JioPhone was available for booking after a few days of launch.
The JioPhone 2 will launch at a price of Rs 2,999 and sports a completely new design with a QWERTY keypad instead of the traditional 9-keys keypad.
The JioPhone 2 also offers VoLTE and VoWi-Fi connectivity. It will also support NFC, FM Radio, GPS and Wi-Fi.
It will run on the same version of KaiOS as supported in the JioPhone. It comes with a 2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA camera on the front. The JioPhone 2 will offer the same features and applications as before with the exception of certain additional apps like WhatsApp and YouTube.
The phone comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. It is powered by a 2,000mAh battery which is non-removable.
