If you think your mobile data is getting over sooner than you had imagined, then it’s high time that you found a fix for it. And no, we don’t mean to curb your usage, or even ask you to remove data-hungry apps like Facebook.
Google is taking the onus on itself with its Datally app. The search giant admits that even with the presence of Reliance Jio, everyone can’t afford to lose data, especially in other parts of the world where mobile data can be expensive.
Google states that Datally is now available globally on the Google Play Store for all phones running on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and higher.
Google claims that with Datally, users can track their data usage in real time, and get personalised recommendations on saving data, along with notifications of public Wi-Fi spots available nearby.
It also helps users block background data usage and track real-time data usage while using each of the apps.
But the most interesting aspect about the Datally is its ability to let you track usable public Wi-Fi, which might not be feasible in India right now, but serves the purpose in the near future.
We still can’t vouch for the app, and whether it truly helps in saving mobile data. But coming from Google, there’s a good chance that the app will work its way out with mobile data, not so much with public Wi-Fi, which, in general, is not something we prescribe to.
