When we first heard about the Kult, we weren’t sure why the brand exists. Smartphone makers are aplenty these days, which is why we were not excited about having another brand to choose from. Is there anything to talk about the Kult 10 smartphone that we’ve not already seen from someone else?

The Kult 10 looks like any other smartphone sold in the country right now. However, we could not miss the phone’s finishing at the back, with its similarity to the Yu Yureka. The Kult 10 is a poor man’s version of the OnePlus One. It has a sandstone finish that feels like it might get washed out in a couple of months.

You get 4G connectivity support for Rs 7,999 and there’s not much you can ask from a newbie brand looking to make a name for itself among the smartphone crowd. You get a 5-inch HD 1280x720 pixels display that feels brighter in nature, which is never a bad thing to have.

The most intriguing part about the Kult 10 is that you get a 3GB RAM-powered phone for the price, something that no other brand can vouch for right now.

Weighing mere 128 grams, the Kult 10 is light to carry and its compact sizing will never make you feel that you’re carrying a 5-inch phone. Dragontrail display is not known for its outdoor visibility and that’s exactly the issue plaguing the Kult 10 in general.

Smartphones have evolved to such an extent these days that even a brand debuting its product in the market knows what the consumer likes. It would have been great if Kult had managed to offer a full-HD resolution display at this price point, sweetening things further.

The Kult 10 also packs the best cameras that one can expect to see on a phone nowadays. At the back, there’s a 13-megapixel snapper with LED Flash and a 5-megapixel camera on the front.

The dual-SIM phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop version out-of-box and the brand promises to provide Android 6.0 Marshmallow very soon. And finally, you have a 2350mAh battery unit that should be sufficient for a day’s use, but we’ll know more in our review.

It’s never easy for a new brand to enter and get noticed. Xiaomi did the unthinkable last year and a slew of other names have jumped the queue lately. Kult has the right mix to become a reckoner, but its infancy as a brand is what that worries us and will bother buyers.
